Some characters may be illegal in certain fields. Characters are grouped into four sets:
Alphabetic
Numeric
Special
Blank
The Field Help or Status Bar shows which characters are allowed in the current field.
Data may be entered into a field in a number of different ways:
Text is simply typed into the field.
Fields may have legal values associated with them. If this is the case, you have several additional options for entering the value, see Legal Value.
Data may be pasted into the field from the clipboard. Pasting from the clipboard will insert the contents into the field at the current cursor position.
Data may also be cut or copied from the field to the clipboard. The contents of a field could also be changed by performing a Search and Replace operation.
Note: when running IRIS Forms in browsers that do not allow programmatic access to the system clipboard (e.g. Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome), the IRIS Forms menus can only be used for cut/copy/paste in scope of IRIS Forms. To cut/copy/paste field contents to external applications in these browsers, the browser's own cut/copy/paste functionality must be used.
