Changing to Source Mode

If you have started preparing a form in Edit Mode, the sections and form contents, which have already been entered, are converted into the native format for you to continue modifying.

To switch to Source mode:

Select the Source button in the toolbar

Source mode is available when the native format is not binary.

If the form contains empty, mandatory fields (and if validation of these is enabled), you are warned before switching to source mode. The reason for this is that empty, mandatory fields will be represented by a no-data marker in Source mode (if such a marker is defined in the underlying message standard). The idea is that leaving a mandatory field empty should be a conscious decision made by the user, and the warning serves to direct your attention to the fact that these fields will now be filled in automatically.

IRIS Forms automatically switches to Source mode when a form, which does not conform to the formatting rules, is loaded from a file. If the file is not recognised as a correctly formatted form, the content of the file is displayed in Source mode, for you to correct manually.
