Message Definition System - ISM

ISM is the tool used to define and distribute the schemas, i.e. the formatting rules, which IRIS Forms users must comply with when preparing forms. The schemas also contain help texts for the forms, which can be used to assist IRIS Forms users when preparing forms.

ISM is used by communication staff, normally adhering to standard conventions for structured or formatted messages such as Message Text Format (MTF) in ADatP-3. An advantage of this setup is that the IRIS Forms users do not have to be concerned with the details of the schemas. Another advantage is that schemas can be uniformly maintained across IRIS sites.

ISM generates the schemas, called mission files that can be transferred to, and imported into, an IRIS Forms installation.

For more information on ISM, please contact your local IRIS distributor or consult the ISM User’s Manual.
