Form Area

The Form Area is intended to present the sections and fields in the form in a way that is easy to view and understand. It assists completion of fields so that minimum efforts are needed when entering data for the form content.

The Form Area is fully configurable to layout many different templates. The description of the Form Area below is for the default configuration. For details on how to change the appearance of the Form Area, see the IRIS Forms Options, please note that IRIS Forms Options are only available to IRIS Forms users and IRIS WebForms administrators.

The Form Area displays the sections and fields in the current form. Data is entered in boxes below the field names. The names of the fields and sections can be compressed to allow a tighter fit of the fields shown in the form but as a default they are expanded to show the entire field names.

To make it easier to read and understand the different levels and the structure of the form, section numbering is added. The figure below shows an example of a section containing four fields.

Sections can be collapsed in the Form Area to only display the parts of the form needed at that time. When opening a form all section groups are collapsed. This makes loading and navigating through the form faster.

A field with legal values presents a drop-down list with the legal values next to the field. Similarly, a field with alternatives presents a drop-down list with the alternatives next to the field name.

Form functionality is described in greater detail in Working with Form Contents.
